- 2 tablespoons Butter (or vegetable shortening) (Originally lard. Substituted with butter for modern preference. Can also use vegetable shortening for similar texture.)
- 2 tablespoons Red chile pulp
- 1/2 cup Grated cheese
Instructions
- 1Drain the well-cooked beans, ensuring they are free of excess water. Set aside.
- 2In a skillet, melt the butter (or vegetable shortening) over medium heat. Add the red chile pulp and brown it for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3Add the drained beans to the skillet with the chile pulp. Stir in the grated cheese until it melts and is well combined. Serve the Spanish Beans Au Gratin piping hot.
