- 6 quarts Cherries
- 1 1/2 quarts Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 pint Water

- 1Measure the cherries after removing the stems. Stone the cherries if desired, saving the juice if stoned.
- 2In a kettle, combine the sugar and water. Stir over heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- 3Add the cherries to the syrup and heat slowly to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes, skimming off any foam.
- 4Put the cherries into sterilized jars, filling them to overflowing with the syrup. Seal securely. Stand the jars in a pan containing boiling water to prevent breakage.
