Instant Pot Plain Yogurt
This is a simple yogurt recipe using an Instant Pot with the pot-in-pot method.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons Plain yogurt with active cultures (Ensure the yogurt contains active cultures.)
- 4.5 pounds Milk, 2% (Approximately 2 liters.)
- 2 cups Water (For the outer pot.)

Instructions
- 1Boil the milk using either a stovetop or an Instant Pot. For the Instant Pot, add milk to the inner pot, select the boil option by pressing the yogurt button and adjusting the pressure setting to 'high'. Ensure the vent is in the venting position and start the process. Once completed, indicated by 'END' on the display, set the milk aside to cool to 110-115°F.
- 2Add the yogurt with active cultures to the cooled milk and mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
- 3Pour the yogurt mixture into the inner pot. Fill the outer pot with 2 cups of water.
- 4Close the lid of the Instant Pot and set it to yogurt mode, ensuring the vent is in the venting position. Allow the yogurt to incubate overnight until the display reads 'YOGT'.
- 5Transfer the yogurt to the refrigerator for a few hours to set completely before serving.
