Tyre Roti/Malabar Orotti
This roti is very popular in the Malabar region of Kerala for its taste!
Ingredients
- 2 cups Rice powder ((Powdered parboiled rice) You can clean the parboiled rice, drain it, put it under sunlight, and grind it in a mixer.)
- 1 cup White rice (Soaked in water for 3-4 hours)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ghee (For spreading over the orotti)
- 2 tablespoons Coconut oil (For greasing hands and sheet)
- 0.5 cup Water (For grinding white rice)
Instructions
- 1Soak the white rice in water for 3-4 hours. Drain and grind it using a mixer grinder with 1/2 cup of water until smooth. Transfer to a mixing bowl and adjust the salt.
- 2Gradually add the powdered parboiled rice to the ground white rice, mixing to form a thick dough. Add water if necessary and adjust the salt.
- 3Grease your hands with coconut oil. Take a small portion of the dough and shape it into a roti by pressing it with your hands on a greased sheet.
- 4Heat an orotti tawa over medium-high flame. Once hot, transfer the roti onto the tawa and cook, flipping on both sides, until the edges are cooked.
- 5Once cooked, remove the roti from the tawa. Spread ghee over the orotti for added flavor. Serve hot with chicken, beef, mutton, or fish gravy.
