Papad ki sabzi (Papad curry)

This is the simplest and easiest form of curry available to make when you have uninvited guests coming over on short notice.

Ingredients

  • 2 units Papad (If short sized, then 4 papads will be needed.)
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 200 ml Water (1 glass or 200ml water)
  • 1 pinch Asafetida
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. 1In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat until it is hot.
  2. 2Add the cumin seeds to the hot oil and allow them to crackle. Turn off the heat and let the oil cool slightly.
  3. 3Add the coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafetida, and salt to the pan. Stir to combine.
  4. 4Pour the water into the pan and turn the heat back on. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. 5Once the water is boiling, add the papad pieces to the pan.
  6. 6Allow the papad to cook for 2 minutes on medium heat, then turn off the stove.
  7. 7The Papad curry is ready to serve. Enjoy it hot with your choice of bread or rice.
