Papad Chutney (Chamanthi)
A traditional Indian chutney made with fried papads, coconut, and spices, offering a delightful blend of flavors perfect for enhancing any meal.
Ingredients
- 4 units Papad (Cut into four pieces)
- 5 tablespoons Coconut oil
- 10 units Shallots
- 1 inch Ginger
- 3 units Dry red chillies
- 1 cup Coconut, shredded
- 1 inch Tamarind, raw
- 1 unit Green chillies
- 1 teaspoon Salt
Instructions
- 1Cut the papads into four pieces each and fry them in oil until crisp. Set aside.
- 2In a separate pan, heat two tablespoons of coconut oil. Add the shallots, ginger, and dry red chillies. Sauté until the shallots are translucent and the mixture is aromatic. Add the curry leaves and sauté briefly.
- 3Transfer the sautéed mixture to a mixer grinder. Add the shredded coconut, tamarind, salt, green chilli, and the fried papads. Grind the mixture, adding a little water as needed, until a thick chutney consistency is achieved.
