Moong Dal Khichdi
A comforting and nutritious dish made with rice and moong dal, flavored with aromatic spices and herbs, cooked to perfection in a pressure cooker.
Ingredients
- 2 cups White Rice
- 1 cup Moong Dal
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 unit White Onions (Cut lengthwise)
- 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
- 2 units Cloves
- 2 units Bay Leaves
- 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 3 units Green Chillies
- 2 sprigs Curry Leaves
- 0.5 cup Mint
- 3 tbsp Coriander Leaves
- 2 units Potato (Chopped)
- 1 unit Carrot (Chopped)
- 1 unit Tomatoes (Chopped)
- 1 tbsp Garam Masala
- 0.5 tbsp Turmeric
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Sunflower Oil
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 5 cups Water

Instructions
- 1Rinse the rice and moong dal thoroughly under cold water. Soak them together for 10 minutes.
- 2In a pressure cooker, heat the ghee and sunflower oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and sliced onions, sauté until the onions are golden brown. Add cinnamon stick, cloves, and bay leaves, followed by ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, mint leaves, and coriander leaves. Sauté until fragrant. Add chopped potatoes, carrot, and tomato, and cook with the lid on for a few minutes.
- 3Open the lid and add garam masala, turmeric, and salt. Stir in the soaked rice and moong dal. Add 5 cups of water, stir well, and secure the lid. Cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.
