- 1 each Egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 1 cup All-purpose flour (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 8 each German plums (or other plums), pitted (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 1/2 cup Bread crumbs (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 1 teaspoon Salt (For boiling water, quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
Instructions
- 1Boil the potatoes in a pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash the potatoes until smooth.
- 2In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with the egg yolk, salt, and flour. Add enough flour to make a dough that is soft enough to hold the impression of your finger.
- 3Roll out the dough and cut it into squares. Place a pitted plum in the center of each square and fill it with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Roll each square into a round dumpling.
- 4Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the dumplings and cook, covered, for 6-8 minutes, or until they float to the top and are cooked through.
- 5While the dumplings are cooking, brown the bread crumbs in butter in a pan over medium heat until golden brown.
- 6Serve the dumplings with the browned breadcrumbs spread over them.
