To Make Stale Bread Fresh
A traditional method to refresh stale bread by briefly soaking it in cold water and rebaking, restoring its texture temporarily to resemble freshly baked bread.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf Stale bread (Any type of bread loaf that has gone stale)
- 1 bowl Cold water (Enough to immerse the bread)
Instructions
- 1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2Fill a large bowl with cold water. Quickly immerse the entire loaf of stale bread in the cold water for 1-2 minutes, ensuring all surfaces are moistened but not allowing it to become waterlogged.
- 3Remove the bread from the water and gently shake off any excess water. The bread should be damp but not dripping wet.
- 4Place the dampened bread directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the crust is crisp and the bread feels firm to the touch.
- 5Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. The bread will have a fresh texture and appearance, though this effect will diminish within a few hours.
