To Make Stale Bread Fresh

To Make Stale Bread Fresh

A traditional method to refresh stale bread by briefly soaking it in cold water and rebaking, restoring its texture temporarily to resemble freshly baked bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Stale bread (Any type of bread loaf that has gone stale)
  • 1 bowl Cold water (Enough to immerse the bread)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2Fill a large bowl with cold water. Quickly immerse the entire loaf of stale bread in the cold water for 1-2 minutes, ensuring all surfaces are moistened but not allowing it to become waterlogged.
  3. 3Remove the bread from the water and gently shake off any excess water. The bread should be damp but not dripping wet.
  4. 4Place the dampened bread directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the crust is crisp and the bread feels firm to the touch.
  5. 5Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. The bread will have a fresh texture and appearance, though this effect will diminish within a few hours.
