A tangy, spicy dressing for cucumber salad made with onions, chilies, vinegar, and spices. This versatile sauce can also be used for lobster and prawn salads.

Ingredients

  • 2 large Patna onions, thinly sliced (Patna onions are mild white onions; substitute with sweet onions or white onions)
  • 2 whole Fresh chilies, thinly sliced (Use green chilies; adjust quantity based on heat preference)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons Vinegar (White vinegar or apple cider vinegar work well)
  • 2 medium Cucumbers, thinly sliced (To be added after sauce has marinated)

Instructions

  1. 1Thinly slice 2 large onions and 2 fresh chilies. Place them in a soup plate or shallow bowl.
  2. 2Sprinkle ground black pepper and salt over the sliced onions and chilies.
  3. 3Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to the seasoned onion and chili mixture.
  4. 4Allow the sauce to stand at room temperature for 2 to 3 hours to let the flavors meld together.
  5. 5Thinly slice the cucumbers and add them to the marinated sauce. Toss gently to coat the cucumbers evenly with the sauce. Serve immediately or chill before serving.
