Simple Celery Sauce
A basic celery sauce, perfect as a light accompaniment to fish or vegetables. This recipe is modernized for ease of preparation and enhanced flavor.
Ingredients
- 3 cups Celery stalks (Thinly sliced)
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 0.5 Onion (Finely chopped)
- 1 cup Vegetable broth
- 0.5 cup Heavy cream
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
- 0.125 teaspoon Black pepper (Freshly ground, or to taste)
Instructions
- 1Wash and thinly slice the celery stalks. Finely chop the onion.
- 2Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the sliced celery and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened.
- 3Pour in the vegetable broth, bring to a simmer, and cook for 10 minutes, or until the celery is tender.
- 4Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Heat through gently, but do not boil. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve warm.
