Instructions
- 1On a lightly floured surface, roll the bread dough into a rectangle approximately 12x18 inches and about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the sugar mixture, raisins, and chopped citron evenly over the buttered dough.
- 3Starting from one long edge, roll the dough up tightly like a jelly roll. Cut the roll into 3/4-inch thick slices.
- 4Place the slices in a greased baking pan close together, flat side down. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- 5Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 6While the rolls are baking, whisk together the egg white and water. When the rolls are taken from the oven, brush them with the egg white mixture. Return to the oven for 2-3 minutes to dry the egg and glaze the top.
