Hot Cocoa

A simple and comforting hot cocoa recipe using cocoa powder, sugar, and milk.

Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup Water (For making the cocoa paste)
  • 1 cup Milk (Whole milk recommended for richness)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar (Adjust to taste)
  • 0.125 teaspoon Salt (Pinch of salt)

Instructions

  1. 1In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is steaming and small bubbles form around the edges. Do not boil.
  2. 2In a small bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Add just enough boiling water (about 2-3 tablespoons) to make a smooth paste.
  3. 3Add the remaining boiling water to the cocoa paste and stir well. Bring the mixture to a boil and boil for one minute, stirring constantly.
  4. 4Pour the cocoa mixture into the scalded milk. Beat vigorously for two minutes using a whisk or immersion blender until frothy.
  5. 5Pour into a mug and serve immediately. Garnish with marshmallows or whipped cream if desired.
