Tarts: Gooseberry, Currant, Apple or any Other Fruit
A simple recipe for fruit tarts using gooseberries, currants, or apples.
Ingredients
- 1 quart Gooseberries, Currants, or Apples
- 1/2 lb Pie crust
- as needed Moist sugar
- as needed Water
Instructions
- 1Cut off the tops and tails from the gooseberries, or pick the currants from their stalks, or pare and quarter the apples.
- 2Put the prepared fruit into a pie-dish with sugar. Line the edge of the dish with pie crust. Pour in a little water, put on the cover, and ornament the edge of the paste in the usual manner.
- 3Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the fruit is tender.
