Graham Unfermented Bread
A simple recipe for Graham bread from 1888.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pints Graham flour
- 1/2 pint Flour
- 1 tablespoonful Sugar
- 1 teaspoonful Salt
- 2 teaspoonfuls Royal Baking Powder
- 1 1/4 pints Milk
- 1 1/4 pints Water
Instructions
- 1Sift together the Graham flour, flour, sugar, salt, and Royal Baking Powder in a large bowl. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2Add the milk, or milk and water, to the dry ingredients. Mix rapidly until a soft dough forms.
- 3Pour the dough from the bowl into a greased loaf tin. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Protect the loaf with paper for the first 15 minutes to prevent over-browning.
