Ingredients
- 2 cakes Spanish chocolate
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 cup Brown sugar
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 3 cups Flour
- 2 tablespoons Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon Butter
Instructions
- 1Melt the Spanish chocolate. In a separate bowl, cream together the melted chocolate, butter, and brown sugar until well combined. This will take about 5 minutes.
- 2Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks into the chocolate mixture. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- 3Pour the milk over the chocolate mixture, then gently fold in the beaten egg whites. Stir until just combined.
- 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan or two round cake pans. Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s). Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 6While the cake is cooling, make the icing. Melt the remaining chocolate and butter in a saucepan. Add the brown sugar and cook until it thickens. Let cool.
- 7Once the cake is cool, spread the icing on top or use it as a filling between layers. Serve and enjoy!
