Ingredients

  • 2 cakes Spanish chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 3 cups Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Instructions

  1. 1Melt the Spanish chocolate. In a separate bowl, cream together the melted chocolate, butter, and brown sugar until well combined. This will take about 5 minutes.
  2. 2Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks into the chocolate mixture. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. 3Pour the milk over the chocolate mixture, then gently fold in the beaten egg whites. Stir until just combined.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. 5Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan or two round cake pans. Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s). Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. 6While the cake is cooling, make the icing. Melt the remaining chocolate and butter in a saucepan. Add the brown sugar and cook until it thickens. Let cool.
  7. 7Once the cake is cool, spread the icing on top or use it as a filling between layers. Serve and enjoy!
