The tender onions are filled with a savory mixture of breadcrumbs, herbs, and seasonings, creating a rich and flavorful experience. Ingredients

  • 2 large Large Spanish onions
  • 3 tablespoons Soft bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chopped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon Celery salt
  • 1/4 cup Milk

Instructions

  1. 1Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the whole onions and cook until tender, but not broken, about 10-15 minutes. When a fork pierces them easily, drain the water and rinse the onions in cold water to firm them up for stuffing.
  2. 2Carefully remove the centers of the cooked onions. Chop the removed onion portions finely and add them to a bowl with the bread crumbs, egg, parsley, salt, melted butter, and celery salt. Mix thoroughly to combine.
  3. 3Fill the onion holes with the prepared mixture. Place the stuffed onions in a small baking pan. Sprinkle the remaining salt over the onions and pour the milk over them. Bake in a moderate oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, or until the onions are tender and the filling is heated through.
