Salted Almonds
These simple salted almonds are a classic snack, perfect for entertaining or enjoying as a quick treat. The almonds are blanched, toasted in olive oil, and seasoned with salt, creating a satisfying crunch and rich, savory flavor. Ingredients
- 1/4 lb Almonds (shelled)
- 1 qt Water
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 3 tablespoons Olive oil
Instructions
- 1Place the almonds in a heat-safe bowl. Pour boiling water over the almonds, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover the bowl and let the almonds stand for 15 minutes.
- 2Rinse the almonds with hot water. Place the almonds in a colander and rub the skins off. Discard the skins.
- 3Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the almonds to the pan. Stir constantly for 15 minutes, or until the almonds are golden brown and toasted.
- 4Pour the toasted almonds onto a clean cloth to absorb any excess oil. Sprinkle the salt over the warm almonds. Allow the almonds to cool completely before storing them in a covered tin can.
