Roast Beef Pie

Ingredients
- 2 cups Chopped cold roast beef
- 1 cup Gravy
- 1 cup Cold diced potatoes (cooked)
- 2 tablespoons Chopped onion
- 1 cup Flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 2 teaspoons Butter (or vegetable shortening) (Originally lard. Substituted with butter for modern preference. Can also use vegetable shortening for similar texture.)
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 6 tablespoons Milk
Instructions
- 1In a bowl, mix together the chopped roast beef, gravy, cold diced potatoes, and chopped onion.
- 2Place the beef mixture in a shallow, buttered baking dish.
- 3In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the milk, mixing until a dough forms.
- 4Pat the dough into shape and arrange it carefully on top of the meat mixture. Make holes in the top to allow steam to escape. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
