Marble Cake

Ingredients
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup Molasses
- 1/2 cup Whole milk
- 2 Egg yolks
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon Grated nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 2 Egg whites
- 1 sheet Waxed paper (For lining the loaf pan.)
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Divide the mixture in half.
- 2To one half of the butter and sugar mixture, add the molasses, 1/2 cup milk, egg yolks, 1 cup flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly and set aside.
- 3To the other half of the butter and sugar mixture, add the remaining 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup flour, baking powder, and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the light batter.
- 4Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan, then line the bottom with waxed paper. Alternating, put large spoonfuls of light and dark batter into the prepared pan until it is two-thirds full. Bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
