Sheera | Sooji Halwa
A classic Indian dessert made with roasted semolina, ghee, and a fragrant blend of milk, sugar, and cardamom, resulting in a rich and aromatic halwa.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Sooji (Coarse)
- 1.5 cups Milk- 2%
- 1.5 cups Water
- 0.67 cup Sugar
- 5 units Green cardamom pods
- 0.5 cup Ghee
Instructions
- 1In a vessel, combine milk, water, sugar, and cardamom pods. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and heat until just before boiling. Remove from heat.
- 2In a separate pan, heat ghee over medium flame. Add the sooji and roast, stirring continuously, until it emits a pleasant aroma, ensuring it does not brown.
- 3Gradually add the heated milk mixture to the roasted sooji, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
- 4Continue to stir until the halwa reaches the desired consistency, approximately 3-4 minutes. Serve hot.
