Malabar Mutton Curry/Mutton Kuruma
A mouth-watering and authentic taste of Malabar!!
Ingredients
- 1000 gms Mutton
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- 1 tsp Poppy seeds
- 3 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp Black pepper powder
- 0.5 tsp Garam masala
- 4 tbsp Coconut oil
- 3 units Onions, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Ginger, crushed
- 2 tbsp Garlic, crushed
- 5 units Green chilli, crushed
- 1 handful Curry leaves
- 1 handful Coriander leaves
- 2 units Tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Salt
- 2 units Potato, chopped into small pieces
- 1 cup Coconut, grated
- 0.5 cup Cashew nut
- 1 cup Water (Adjust as needed)
Instructions
- 1Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium flame. Add onions, tomatoes, green chillies, ginger, garlic, and salt. Sauté until the onions become transparent.
- 2Stir in turmeric powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
- 3Add the cleaned and chopped mutton to the pan along with curry leaves and coriander leaves. Adjust the salt and add enough water. Cook for 25-30 minutes on medium flame.
- 4In a mixer grinder, combine grated coconut and cashew nuts with a little water. Grind well to extract the coconut milk.
- 5Add the prepared coconut milk to the cooked mutton and mix well. Add the chopped potatoes, adjust the salt, and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes.
- 6Remove from heat and serve the delicious mutton kuruma hot. Enjoy!
