    Step 1
    Keep a pan on gas. Fry rava on medium flame till the colour of rava changes to slight brown. Do not overfry.
    Step 2
    Then add 1 tsp of oil to the rava & fry for a minute & keep it aside in an empty vessel.
    Step 3
    Pour oil in the pan & put mustard seeds, onion, green chilly & saute till onion is translucent.
    Step 4
    Add water & after water boils put salt & curry leaves in it & boil for a minute. Add the fried rava & mix all together. Cover it with a lid & cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
    Step 5
    When all the water has evaporated from the rava mixture, add sugar & cook again for 2 minutes.
    Step 6
    Once the rava mixture comes out clean from all the sides of the pan, switch off the gas & keep it covered for 2 or 3 minutes.
    Step 7
    After 2 or 3 minutes rava upuma is ready to be served.
    Step 8
    Please note that sugar is optional & quantity of sugar vary as per each person's preferences.
