Step 1
Soak chana dal overnight & cook it in cooker till it is very soft. Put turmeric & red chilly powder while boiling the dal
Step 2
Smash the cooked chana dal into a smooth paste.
Step 3
Next keep a kadai on gas, put oil in it, put jeera next put cut onion after it becomes transluscent add turmeric, red chilly powder, jeera powder, garam massla, coriander powder & hing one by one, saute for 2 to 3 minutes till the raw smell of the masalas goes, then add cut tomatoes & saute again, add water & make the tomatoes into smooth pulp .

Next put jaggery powder, after it melts add the chana dal paste, add water & boil altogether.
Step 5
Finally, add curry leaves & coriander leaves. Puran is ready to be had with Puran poli or rice or rotis

Please note that the quantity of jaggery powder should be as per your preference for sweetness of dal. Also water in dal should be as per your requirement of thickness of dal.
