A potent and aromatic homemade cinnamon extract created by diluting pure cinnamon oil in spirits or wine. This concentrated essence captures the warm, spicy fragrance of cinnamon in a stable liquid form, perfect for flavoring sauces, desserts, and beverages with precision. Just a few drops are sufficient to impart a rich, festive flavor to a large volume of food, making it an economical and long-lasting pantry staple.
Ingredients
- 1 cup High-proof vodka or brandy (Originally '1/2 pint rectified spirits or wine'. Used as a solvent base for the extract.)
- 2 teaspoons Food-grade cinnamon oil (Originally '1 medium spoon'. Ensure oil is food-grade and safe for consumption.)
Instructions
- 1In a clean glass bottle or jar, combine the high-proof vodka (or brandy) with the cinnamon oil. Ensure the container is clean and dry before use.
- 2Cork the bottle tightly or seal with a secure lid to prevent evaporation. Shake well to distribute the oil evenly throughout the spirits. Store in a cool, dark place.
- 3To use, add only 2 to 3 drops of this essence for every pint (2 cups) of sauce, liquid, or batter. CAUTION: This oil is extremely potent; do not exceed the recommended amount.
