This potent homemade cardamom essence captures the intense, floral aroma of fresh cardamom seeds in a concentrated liquid form. By steeping the seeds in high-proof spirits for a full month, the essential oils are fully extracted, creating a versatile flavoring agent that eliminates the need for ground powder or whole pods in delicate dishes. A mere few drops of this golden elixir are sufficient to impart a rich, authentic cardamom flavor to puddings, beverages, and traditional sweets.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Cardamom seeds (Quantity estimated based on liquid ratio (approx 1 tola). Use decorticated seeds removed from green pods.)
  • 1 ounce High-proof grain alcohol or Vodka (Originally 'Rectified Spirits of Wine'. Use 190-proof grain alcohol (like Everclear) or high-proof vodka for best extraction.)

Instructions

  1. 1Peel cardamom pods to extract the seeds if not already decorticated. Place the seeds into a small glass bottle with a tight-fitting stopper.
