Ingredients

  • 4 each Large, ripe tomatoes (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
  • 1 bowl Ice water (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
  • 4 leaves Lettuce leaves (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))

Instructions

  1. 1Select tomatoes of uniform size, round, smooth, and spotless. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Score a shallow 'X' on the bottom of each tomato. Carefully scald the tomatoes in the boiling water for about 30 seconds, or until the skins start to loosen. Immediately transfer the tomatoes to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. This should take about 10 minutes.
  2. 2Once the tomatoes are cool enough to handle, peel off the outer skin. Place each tomato on an individual serving dish, resting it on a lettuce leaf. Drizzle each tomato with 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise dressing. Serve immediately.
