Whole-meal Porridge
A simple, wholesome porridge made from whole wheat flour and water, traditionally served with cold milk. Similar to a wheat-based polenta or gruel.
Ingredients
- 1 quart Water (Approximately 950ml or 4 cups)
- 0.5 pound Whole-meal flour (Atta) (Approximately 225g or 1.5 to 2 cups)
- 1 cup Cold milk (For serving, adjust quantity to taste)
Instructions
- 1Pour the water into a large saucepan or pot and bring it to a rolling boil.
- 2Gradually sprinkle the whole-meal flour into the boiling water while stirring constantly and vigorously to prevent lumps from forming.
- 3Reduce the heat to a simmer and let the porridge cook for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure it does not stick to the bottom of the pan.
- 4Remove from heat and serve hot in bowls, accompanied by cold milk.
