Lavender Water
A fragrant lavender-infused water made by steeping lavender flowers in alcohol, similar to eau de cologne. This aromatic water can be used as a personal fragrance, linen spray, or room freshener.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Dried lavender flowers (Use culinary-grade dried lavender)
- 1 cup Vodka or grain alcohol (High-proof vodka (80-100 proof) or Everclear; substitute for historical 'spirits of wine')
- 0.5 cup Distilled water (Optional, for diluting if desired)
Instructions
- 1Place the dried lavender flowers in a clean glass jar or bottle. Pour the vodka over the lavender, ensuring all flowers are submerged.
- 2Seal the jar tightly with a lid. Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.
- 3Let the mixture steep for one week, shaking the jar gently once daily to help extract the lavender essence.
- 4After one week, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle, discarding the lavender flowers. If desired, dilute with distilled water to reduce the alcohol strength.
- 5Store the finished lavender water in a sealed bottle in a cool, dark place. Use as a personal fragrance, linen spray, or room freshener. The lavender water will keep for several months.
