Instructions
- 1Place the lard in a basin and pour boiling water over it. Stir gently to dissolve the lard completely in the hot water.
- 2Allow the basin to cool completely at room temperature until the lard solidifies on top of the water.
- 3Strain off the water from beneath the solidified lard. Place the lard in a clean cloth and squeeze firmly to remove all remaining water.
- 4Place the dried lard in a small saucepan or pipkin and melt it gently over low heat.
- 5Add the salad oil and palm oil to the melted lard. Stir well to combine all ingredients thoroughly. If using white wax for a stiffer consistency, add it now and stir until completely melted.
- 6Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool until it is nearly cold but still pourable. Add your chosen essential oil for scent and stir well to distribute evenly.
- 7Pour the scented mixture into small pots or jars. Allow to cool completely and solidify before covering with lids.
