Ear Drops for Dry Ear Canal (Historical Remedy)

A historical remedy using turpentine and olive oil to address ear dryness. IMPORTANT: This is a historical recipe for educational purposes only. Modern medical advice strongly recommends consulting a healthcare professional for any ear-related issues rather than using home remedies, especially those containing turpentine.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 drachm (approximately 1.8 ml or 1/3 teaspoon) Oil of turpentine (Historical ingredient - not recommended for modern use without medical supervision)
  • 2 drachms (approximately 7 ml or 1.5 teaspoons) Olive oil (Acts as a carrier oil to dilute the turpentine)

Instructions

  1. 1In a small clean container, combine half a drachm (approximately 1.8 ml or 1/3 teaspoon) of oil of turpentine with two drachms (approximately 7 ml or 1.5 teaspoons) of olive oil. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
  2. 2At bedtime, using a clean dropper, place two drops of the oil mixture into the affected ear. Tilt head to keep the drops in the ear canal for a few moments.
