Threaded Syrup Icing

A simple threaded syrup icing, perfect for cakes and cookies.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Boiling water
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar (Adjust to desired sweetness)

Instructions

  1. 1Break sugar into small pieces (if using large sugar crystals). Put sugar in a saucepan with boiling water.
  2. 2Stir occasionally until sugar is dissolved.
  3. 3Boil without stirring until syrup will thread when dropped from tip of spoon. This means when you drop a small amount of syrup from a spoon, it forms a thin, continuous thread.
  4. 4While the syrup is boiling, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. 5Pour syrup gradually on beaten whites, beating mixture constantly. Continue beating until of right consistency to spread.
