Steamed Chocolate Pudding
A classic steamed chocolate pudding, rich and moist, perfect for a comforting dessert.
Ingredients
- 2.5 squares Baker's unsweetened chocolate (Approximately 2.5 ounces)
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 Large egg (Well beaten)
- 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
- 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
- 0.5 cup Milk
Instructions
- 1Melt the Baker's chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. If microwaving, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.
- 2In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 3Beat in the egg until well combined.
- 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 5Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- 6Stir in the melted chocolate until evenly distributed.
- 7Grease a 6-cup pudding mold or heatproof bowl with butter.
- 8Pour the batter into the prepared mold.
- 9Cover the mold tightly with foil or a lid. Place the mold in a large pot. Pour hot water into the pot until it reaches halfway up the sides of the mold. Bring the water to a simmer, then cover the pot and steam for 2 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Check water level periodically and add more hot water if needed.
- 10Carefully remove the mold from the pot. Let cool slightly before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve warm with your favorite sauce or whipped cream.
