Steamed Chocolate Pudding

Steamed Chocolate Pudding

A classic steamed chocolate pudding, rich and moist, perfect for a comforting dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 squares Baker's unsweetened chocolate (Approximately 2.5 ounces)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Large egg (Well beaten)
  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 cup Milk

Instructions

  1. 1Melt the Baker's chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. If microwaving, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.
  2. 2In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. 3Beat in the egg until well combined.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. 5Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. 6Stir in the melted chocolate until evenly distributed.
  7. 7Grease a 6-cup pudding mold or heatproof bowl with butter.
  8. 8Pour the batter into the prepared mold.
  9. 9Cover the mold tightly with foil or a lid. Place the mold in a large pot. Pour hot water into the pot until it reaches halfway up the sides of the mold. Bring the water to a simmer, then cover the pot and steam for 2 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Check water level periodically and add more hot water if needed.
  10. 10Carefully remove the mold from the pot. Let cool slightly before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve warm with your favorite sauce or whipped cream.
