St. James Pudding

A simple and comforting baked pudding with molasses and a hint of clove.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup Molasses
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 1.67 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground clove

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2Grease a 9-inch baking dish with butter.
  3. 3In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and molasses until well combined. Stir in the milk.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground clove.
  5. 5Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. 6Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  7. 7Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. 8Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
