A simple bread crumb pudding with warm spices and nuts. Zweiback is a type of crisp, sweetened bread, often used for rusks or toast. This recipe uses stale bread crumbs, milk, sugar, spices, and nuts to create a comforting dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups Stale bread crumbs (From Zweiback or other bread)
  • 0.75 cup Milk (Whole milk recommended)
  • 1 cup Brown sugar (Packed)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (Table salt)
  • 0.75 teaspoon Cinnamon (Ground cinnamon)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Nutmeg (Freshly grated)
  • 0.5 cup English walnut meats (Chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (Unsalted, melted)

Instructions

  1. 1If using Zweiback or other bread, ensure it is stale and dry. Crumble or process into fine crumbs. If using pre-made breadcrumbs, ensure they are plain and unseasoned.

  6. 6Let the pudding cool slightly before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
