Spiced Apple Sauce
A simple and flavorful apple sauce spiced with cloves, perfect as a side dish or dessert topping.
Ingredients
- 4 medium Sour Apples (such as Granny Smith) (Original recipe calls for 8 apples, which is a large quantity. Reduced to 4 for a more reasonable portion.)
- 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar (Adjust to taste)
- 4 whole Whole Cloves
- 0.5 cup Water (Or as needed to prevent burning)
Instructions
- 1Wash the apples thoroughly. Quarter, core, and peel the apples. Cut into smaller pieces if desired.
- 2In a medium saucepan, combine the prepared apples, sugar, cloves, and water. Ensure there's enough water to prevent the apples from burning.
- 3Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-30 minutes, or until the apples are very soft and easily mashed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 4Once the apples are soft, use a spoon or potato masher to mash them to your desired consistency. Remove the whole cloves before serving. Serve warm or chilled.
