Snowballs
A classic steamed pudding, perfect for serving with fruit preserves or sauces.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup Butter, softened
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup Milk
- 2.25 cups All-purpose flour
- 3.5 teaspoons Baking powder
- 4 large Eggs, separated
- 0 to serve Preserved fruit, quince marmalade, or strawberry sauce (For serving)
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 2In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
- 3Gradually add the milk to the creamed butter and sugar, alternating with the dry ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- 4In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- 5Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 6Grease six individual ramekins or heat-safe cups with butter. Fill each cup about two-thirds full with the batter. Steam for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 7Serve warm with preserved fruit, quince marmalade, or strawberry sauce.
