Simple Date Cake
A straightforward date cake recipe emphasizing the importance of combining ingredients correctly for a successful outcome.
Ingredients
- 0.5 lb Dates, pitted and chopped (About 225g)
- 0.5 cup Butter, softened (About 115g)
- 0.5 cup Granulated sugar (About 100g)
- 2 Eggs
- 1.5 cups All-purpose flour (About 180g)
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract (Optional)
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan (8-inch round or square recommended).
- 2In a large bowl, combine the softened butter and sugar. Beat together until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- 3Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract (if using).
- 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 5Gently fold in the chopped dates until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- 6Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
