Simple Chocolate Sauce
A basic chocolate sauce recipe using milk and cornstarch. Perfect for topping desserts.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Milk (Whole milk recommended for richness)
- 1 tablespoon Cornstarch (For thickening)
- 0.25 cup Granulated Sugar (Adjust to taste)
- 0.25 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (Adds chocolate flavor)
- 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Enhances the flavor)
- 0.125 teaspoon Salt (Balances the sweetness)
Instructions
- 1In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cornstarch, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined. This prevents lumps from forming.
- 2Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and comes to a simmer. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- 3Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let cool slightly before serving.
