Rye Flake Porridge
A simple and hearty porridge made with rye flakes, perfect for a warm breakfast.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Boiling water
- 0.5 cup Rye flakes (Adjust to desired consistency. Original recipe calls for 1 cup, which may be too thick.)
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 2 tablespoons Molasses
- 0.75 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste. Original recipe calls for 1.5 teaspoons, which may be too salty.)
Instructions
- 1In a saucepan, combine the boiling water, rye flakes, butter, molasses, and salt.
- 2Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, until the porridge has thickened to your desired consistency, about 3-5 minutes.
- 3Serve hot. Add more butter, milk, or sweetener if desired.
