Perfect Cup of Tea

A simple guide to brewing the perfect cup of tea, whether using a teapot or a tea-ball and kettle.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water (Filtered water recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon Loose leaf tea or tea bag (Adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional) (Or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons Milk (optional) (Or to taste)

Instructions

  1. 1Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil using a kettle or stovetop pot.
  2. 2If using a teapot, pour a small amount of the boiling water into the teapot to warm it. Swirl the water around and then discard it. This helps maintain the water temperature during brewing.
  3. 3Place the tea leaves or tea bag into the teapot or tea-ball. Pour the boiling water over the tea.
  4. 4Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on the type of tea and your preference. Black teas typically steep for 5 minutes, while green teas steep for 3 minutes.
  5. 5Remove the tea bag or tea-ball, or strain the tea leaves if using loose leaf. Pour the tea into a cup and add sugar and milk to taste, if desired. Serve immediately.
