Orange Puffs

Orange Puffs

Light and fluffy orange-flavored cakes, perfect for a dessert or snack. These are baked in individual tins and served with a simple orange sauce.

Ingredients

  • 0.33 cup Butter, softened
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 1.75 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 cup Orange juice, freshly squeezed (For the orange sauce)
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar (For the orange sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch (For the orange sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon Butter (For the orange sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest (For the orange sauce)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour six individual muffin tins or ramekins.
  2. 2In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. 3Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. 5Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tins, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. 6Let the puffs cool in the tins for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. While the puffs are baking, prepare the orange sauce. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and stir in butter and orange zest.
  7. 7Serve the warm orange puffs with the orange sauce spooned over the top.
