Orange Cream Dessert
A light and refreshing dessert featuring orange and lemon flavors, thickened with gelatin and enriched with whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 0.33 cup Boiling water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3 tablespoons Lemon juice
- 1 cup Orange juice and pulp
- 3 Egg whites
- 2 cups Heavy cream
- 1.33 tablespoons Gelatin (Granulated gelatin)
- 0.33 cup Cold water
- 0 Strawberry Sponge Cake (optional) (For lining the mold)
Instructions
- 1In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it stand for 5 minutes to soften.
- 2Add the boiling water to the softened gelatin and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any undissolved particles.
- 3In a large bowl, combine the sugar, lemon juice, and orange juice (including the pulp). Add the dissolved gelatin mixture and stir well to combine.
- 4Place the bowl in a larger bowl filled with ice water. Chill, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is quite thick (about 15-20 minutes).
- 5While the gelatin mixture is chilling, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Once the gelatin mixture is thick, beat it with a whisk until frothy. Gently fold in the beaten egg whites, then fold in the whipped cream.
- 6Optionally, line a mold with slices of strawberry sponge cake. Pour the orange cream mixture into the mold. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until set.
