Modern Wine Jelly

A classic wine jelly, updated for modern kitchens with clear instructions and ingredient measurements.

Ingredients

  • 1.7 cups Boiling Water
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Sherry or Madeira Wine
  • 0.33 cup Orange Juice
  • 3 tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 2.5 tablespoons Powdered Gelatin
  • 0.5 cup Cold Water (For soaking gelatin)

Instructions

  1. 1In a small bowl, sprinkle the powdered gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 20 minutes to soften.
  2. 2Pour the boiling water into a heatproof bowl. Add the softened gelatin and stir until completely dissolved.
  3. 3Add the sugar, Sherry or Madeira wine, orange juice, and lemon juice to the dissolved gelatin mixture. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. 4Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a mold or individual serving dishes. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until set.
