Modern Sterling Sauce

A rich and creamy sauce, perfect for desserts or as a topping for ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter (Softened)
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Or 2 tablespoons of wine (e.g., sherry or marsala))
  • 4 tablespoons Heavy Cream (Or milk)

Instructions

  1. 1In a medium saucepan, cream the softened butter until smooth and light.
  2. 2Gradually add the brown sugar to the creamed butter, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the cream (or milk) drop by drop, stirring constantly to prevent separation.
  3. 3Stir in the vanilla extract (or wine) until well combined.
  4. 4Heat the sauce over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly (about 2-3 minutes). Be careful not to boil.
