Modern Sauterne Cup
A refreshing and fruity wine cup, perfect for summer gatherings. This recipe modernizes a classic Sauterne Cup with updated measurements and clear instructions.
Ingredients
- 750 ml Soda Water (Chilled)
- 500 ml Sauterne Wine (A sweet white wine)
- 0.5 orange Orange Rind (Use a vegetable peeler to get wide strips)
- 0.5 lemon Lemon Rind (Use a vegetable peeler to get wide strips)
- 4 tablespoons Orange Curaçao (An orange-flavored liqueur)
- 0.33 cup Sugar (Granulated)
- 1 sprig Mint Leaves (Fresh)
- 0.5 orange Orange Slices (For garnish)
- 12 strawberries Strawberries (Fresh, halved or quartered)
Instructions
- 1In a pitcher, combine the orange rind, lemon rind, orange curaçao, and sugar. Cover the pitcher and let it stand at room temperature for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to infuse.
- 2Add the Sauterne wine to the pitcher. Stir well to combine. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the rinds. Cover the strained mixture and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill thoroughly.
- 3Just before serving, add the chilled soda water to the pitcher. Gently stir to combine. Add the mint leaves, orange slices, and strawberries. Serve immediately in chilled glasses.
