Modern Poor Man's Pudding
A simple and comforting baked rice pudding, sweetened with molasses and spiced with cinnamon. This modernized version provides detailed instructions for a beginner-friendly experience.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Milk (Whole milk recommended for richness)
- 0.5 cup Long-grain rice (Rinsed)
- 0.333 cup Molasses (Unsulphured molasses)
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Enhances the sweetness)
- 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (Adds warmth and spice)
- 1 tablespoon Butter (Adds richness and flavor)
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- 2In the prepared baking dish, combine the milk, rinsed rice, molasses, salt, and cinnamon. Stir well to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- 3Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes to prevent the rice from settling and sticking to the bottom. The pudding is ready when the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened.
- 4Remove the pudding from the oven and stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm.
