Modern Orange Frosting

A simple and flavorful orange frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Orange rind, finely grated (From about 1/2 medium orange)
  • 1 teaspoon Brandy (Optional, can substitute with orange juice)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon Orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 large Egg yolk
  • 2 cups Confectioners' sugar (Approximately, adjust for desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. 1In a small bowl, combine the grated orange rind, brandy (if using), lemon juice, and orange juice. Let stand for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. 2Strain the orange rind mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the solids. In a separate bowl, lightly beat the egg yolk. Gradually add the strained liquid to the egg yolk, whisking constantly to combine.
  3. 3Gradually add the confectioners' sugar to the egg yolk mixture, stirring until smooth and the frosting reaches a spreadable consistency. Add more sugar if needed to thicken, or a tiny bit more orange juice to thin.
