Modern Ginger Punch

A refreshing and flavorful ginger punch with a hint of citrus, perfect for a warm day.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart Water (Cold water)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 4 oz Fresh ginger (Peeled and roughly chopped (½ lb. Canton ginger))
  • 0.5 cup Fresh orange juice
  • 0.5 cup Fresh lemon juice
  • to serve Crushed ice (For serving)

Instructions

  1. 1Peel and roughly chop the fresh ginger.
  2. 2In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped ginger, water, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the ginger flavor has infused into the water.
  3. 3Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the orange juice and lemon juice.
  4. 4Let the mixture cool completely. Strain the punch through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the ginger pieces.
  5. 5Serve the ginger punch over crushed ice. Garnish with orange or lemon slices, if desired.
