Modern Fig Filling
A simple and delicious fig filling, perfect for pastries, tarts, or as a spread.
Ingredients
- 250 grams Dried Figs (About 1/2 lb, finely chopped)
- 65 grams Granulated Sugar (About 1/3 cup)
- 60 ml Water (About 1/4 cup)
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice (Optional, for brightness)
Instructions
- 1Finely chop the dried figs.
- 2In a saucepan, combine the chopped figs, sugar, and water. Add lemon juice if using.
- 3Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the figs are softened and the mixture has thickened, stirring occasionally. As per recipe 5, simmer for 10 minutes without stirring, then stir occasionally.
- 4Remove from heat and let cool completely before using. The filling will thicken further as it cools.
